New Ideas are Key to Success

Hotels in Staffordshire are being told they need to come up with new ideas if they're to overcome the effects of Foot and Mouth disease and the terrorist attacks in the United States.

The hospitality software company Amateo says that as fears grow over the possible effecdts of recent events on the hotel industry, jobs and profit are under threat.

its chief executive, Matthew Maxwell says as the market shrinks the competition between hotel chains and independent hotels will intensify, with total bed nights already being reduced by as much as thirty per cent across the region.

"Discounts on hotels in the Midlands are currently being offered at up to seventy per cent. This will raise occupancy levels to an extent, but won't produce sufficient revenue in the long term. Many hotels are struggling to cover costs, with a spate of cancellations and a drop-off in bookings."

Amateo says it's developed the hospitlaity industry's first arsenal of proactive tools to stem business losses and help hotels with "real business growth solutions" during the current crisis.

The company syas it has devised the world's first software "guest relationship optimisation portfolio", aimed at increasing sales and profits through the effective targeting of guests.
