The topics of the meeting were diverse and interesting:
Dries de Vaal, Deloitte Partner in charge of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Consulting services gave an introductory overview of the current and future state of the hospitality industry and how hotels can benefit by using one of the greatest assets: guest information.
Matthew Maxwell, CEO of Amateo provided the attendees with a potted history of Amateo and outlined the strategic direction the company would be taking in the coming years with a focus on partners, close customer relationships and market growth.
Jonathan Thompson, Manager in Deloitte's Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Consulting arm, outlined the objectives and processes of the User Group: the organisation is intended to allow the users to better understand each other's needs and to work together with Amateo to fine-tune its solutions in order to deliver more and more value.
The AUG will have the following objectives: - Promote and develop best practice
- Share knowledge in hotel marketing, loyalty management, product usage
- Provide input to future development
- See upcoming developments
- Offer an opportunity to meet fellow Amateo users and management
Amateo's CTO, Thomas Maes, described the changes and improvements planned for the four cornerstones (Technology, Product, Organisation and Channels) of the Amateo offering and how they would affect the users and the products. Key focus areas will be Amateo 360 and DataManager product enhancements and usability improvements.
Siobhan Lawlor, former Systems Manager at the Savoy Group, gave an overview of the lessons learned whilst implementing Amateo. A conclusion was that whilst the implementation is an IT project, there needs to be close cooperation between Marketing and IT to enable the full benefits of Amateo to be realised.
This was followed by a demonstration of the new DataManager v4.0 by Orla Kenny. DM 4.0 gives the user even more flexibility and access to the customer and guest data cleaning and deduplication and other processes. DM4.0 will be available in June 2004. Adam Green and Justin Crosbie unveiled advanced thinking on the Amateo 360 Segmentation Engine, providing hotel marketing departments unparalleled functionality and flexibility to create and analyse guest segments.
The afternoon was rounded off by a question and answer session with the CEO and CTO of Amateo, followed by a drink or two.
The AUG is intended for the customers to be run by the customers and Amateo welcomes participation from all our customers in future meetings and even in the AUG organisation.
